Sailing Trip 2014
Isle of Wight Trip - 2nd to 4th May 2014
37 Students and 4 members of staff were welcomed by UKSA for a weekend of water sport fun. Students were selected for the trip based on their effort and achievement since September and the accumulation of a high number of Harris points.
It was a weekend filled with fun and excitement where the students engaged in a range of fun and exciting activities including water confidence challenges, windsurfing, dinghy sailing, kayaking and raft building. Students developed key life skills such as teamwork, communication and showed determination and courage in order to overcome new challenges and succeed.
There were many highlights of the trip. When asked, students commented on the exciting speedboat ride, the fun pool games and being able to run and jump into the water off of the pontoon.
All students behaved impeccably and worked hard. However, some students stood out for a variety of reasons and therefore deserve a special mention:
- Kamile Jarasuite and Michelle Boa for being true team players and helping everyone during the activities when needed.
- Tyreq Smith for overcoming his fear of the water and showing outstanding courage.
I would also like to thank the staff who gave up their weekend to allow this trip to happen. Students had a memorable experience which they will remember for a long time.
