May 2022 - HAMD Anti-Bullying Ambassadors 


May 2022 - HAMD Orchestra

Students were very fortunate to have an additional orchestra rehearsal today led by the Harris Music Federation Consultant – who has great expertise in working with other orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra.

The students were able to play ‘Tequila’ and ‘I feel good’ which they will showcase at the End of Year Music Celebration in June.

The orchestra has only been running for 5 months and is going from strength to strength - well done to all involved today!



May 2022 -  Good news! 9 Year 9 students  have had their poems published by Young Writers in a collection called 'Empowered.'

April 2022 - Harris Experience Year 9 

I've just received some feedback that our Year 9s, were the most prepared and produced the best presentation at Christie's famous Auction House yesterday, of all the Harris Academies that attended yesterday's trip. Please congratulate them. 


April 2022 - World Class School Assessment day result

You may remember 6 students went to Rugby in March to complete the assessment day for our World Class School re-accreditation.

I am pleased to confirm they passed the assessment day and so we are in the final stages of the re-accreditation process.



April 2022 - HAMD's Community Challenge

Well done to all prize winners. Many students received an award from sweets, a queue jump ticket, an invite to the movie afternoon and even a free trip to London Zoo on the 29th April! 


March 2022 - WE WON COOK-OFF 2022!

I am proud to say that our students have taken home the trophy for Harris Academy Morden! There were 6 teams in total, they all had very professional dishes... but of course, WE CAME OUT NUMBER 1!

March 2022 - DEBATE MATE

Six of our prefects in years 7 and 8 participated in a Debate Mate Competition at Harris Wimbledon and were crowned 1st runner up with Oluwadamilola Rosiji (year 8) judged the best speaker. Their performance in the competition is a testimony and a reflection of their dedication and diligence to maintaining the high standards within the prefect body as well as the academy in general. Huge congratulations to the team for a splendid job.


March 2022 - Oxford University’s “Universify” Programme!

Demario Gayle Pryce-Llewellyn (Year 10) & Rameen Rastok (Year 10)

Please congratulate them for being accepted into Oxford University’s “Universify” Programme! It is a highly competitive and selective process. Many schools have had no one accepted at all due to the upsurge in the number of applicants. Tyla Stewart and Shannon Heffernan have also been placed on the waiting list.

Emilis Jarasius, Sara Teixeira and Michael Bassett are also our Year 11 cohort on the programme and they will be going for tutoring at Oxford University from Thursday into the Easter holidays.

March 2022 - Jack Petchey SPEAK OUT challenge

Our Year 10 students took part in a workshop led by a Speakers Trust trainer who were students were offered structured, interactive exercises to develop their communication skills and expand their comfort zones.

Congratulations to Shermeen, B8C for being selected as the HAMD essay writing competition winner.

Feburary 2022 - Y11 Careers Carousel 

HAMD had the pleasure of welcoming a variety of professionals such as Accountants, the Police, Recruiters, Politicians and the Corporate world who delivered informative and inspirational talks  to our Y11 students. 

Feburary 2022 - Y9 & Y10 Apprenticeship Opportunities

Our Y9 and Y10 students were given the opportunity to discover more about apprenticeship opportunities from a local employer and vocational options post 16 at our Drop Down Careers Assembly


January 2022 - SEN Update

It was a busy Autumn Term for SEN. There has been a lot of testing and screening of students to ensure we have a clear picture of need and to make sure that students are given the correct support throughout the year ahead. The following has taken place: 

  • All Year 7s have completed a Lucid Lass screening and a Reading Test 
  • All Year 8s have completed a Lucid Exact screening 
  • Exam Concessions Testing has been taking place for Year 10 and 11 in preparation for exams 
  • Students in all year groups have been referred (via our Triage and Staff referral process) to be screened further clarity of needs.

December 2021 - Free musical instuments

Ms O’Leary and Family went to collect instruments for the first Orchestra at Harris Academy Morden- Thank you Ronnie Scotts!
