Year 7 Family Learning Morning

Family Learning Morning 2025 

On Wednesday 26th November, we welcomed over 20 parents and family members to Harris Academy Morden for our Year 7 Family Learning Morning. 

Family members joined their children in engaging Music and English lessons, experiencing first-hand the dynamic and creative learning environment that our students enjoy every day. In Music, families explored rhythm through body percussion and developed their keyboard skills, creating a lively and collaborative atmosphere. In English, parents and students delved into the poetry of Sylvia Plath before crafting their own original poems, experimenting with their own choice of metaphors and vivid imagery to express their unique perspectives on the world.

The morning was filled with laughter, learning and shared achievement as families worked together on tasks that showcased both creativity and critical thinking. Seeing parents and children collaborate so enthusiastically was a powerful reminder of the impact of learning as a community. The Year 7 Family Learning Morning was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the value of learning as a shared experience, and we look forward to hosting more events that bring our school community even closer. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event such a success.
