Duke of Edinburgh

At Harris Academy Morden, we are proud to offer students the opportunity to participate in the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award programme. This prestigious scheme helps young people develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills valued by universities and employers alike. The programme consists of four key sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition. Through these, students engage in community service, improve physical fitness, learn new skills, and take part in an adventurous expedition. Our enrichment activities, such as robotics, cooking, and language clubs, support students in completing the non-expedition sections.
New Silver Award for Year 10 Students
In addition to the Bronze Award for Year 9, we are delighted to announce the introduction of the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award for Year 10 students. This advanced level offers a greater challenge and includes a two-night, three-day expedition designed to build independence and teamwork. Both programmes provide a unique opportunity for students to grow personally and socially while creating unforgettable experiences. We are committed to making the award accessible to all and offer financial support for eligible students.

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Spring 2026
As we reached the end of the Spring term and headed towards the Easter break, we are delighted to share a huge congratulations to our students following the recent combined Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition.
Almost 50 Year 9 and Year 10 students took part in the expedition, successfully tackling the challenges of hiking, camping, navigation and problem-solving throughout the experience.
The students demonstrated outstanding resilience, teamwork and determination over the course of the expedition. Their positive attitude and commitment were truly impressive, and they should be extremely proud of everything they achieved.
Well done to all students involved.
