Transitioning to Year 7

Beginning Year 7 is an exciting milestone for children and their families and at Harris Academy Morden, we’re here to make that journey smooth, enjoyable, and full of opportunities for success.

A Seamless Transition

We work closely with local primary schools to ensure every student feels prepared and confident. Our Year 7 curriculum builds on the knowledge and skills developed in Years 5 and 6, so learning continues without interruption.

Helping Students Feel at Home

To ease the transition, we:

• Invite Year 6 students to a transition day in July, where they can experience real lessons, meet our teachers and tutors, and get a feel for our welcoming environment.
• Family Learning Mornings with fun, interactive lessons across different subjects for students and their parents to make new friends in secondary school.

Ongoing Support

Once families choose Harris Academy Morden, we provide plenty of support before September. This includes a full transition day in the autumn term, giving students the chance to spend a whole day with us, explore the school, and feel ready for their first day in Year 7.
