Eastbourne Trip

Geography Eastbourne Trip 2026

Year 10 students visited Eastbourne to investigate how effective the sea defences are at protecting the coastline. During the fieldwork, they carried out a groyne survey, a beach profile, sediment analysis, a Longshore Drift (LSD) survey, and a bipolar environmental quality survey. These investigations were used to collect data on coastal processes and beach characteristics, helping students assess which types of coastal engineering and sea defences are the most effective in reducing erosion and protecting the coastline.
