In The Fast Lane: Borough Athletics

For the first time the Merton Borough Secondary School Athletics Championships were held at the David Weir Leisure Centre. In another first, the Championships were staged a week earlier than usual – this change in time was felt by all present as snow, rain, wind and sun ensured the conditions changed dramatically on an hourly basis.

Maxwell B. - 1st Hurdles

Tommy A. – 2nd Discus

Anissa R. – 3rd 800m

Renee M. – 3rd 100m

Tianna G. – 2nd 100m

Charmont W. – 1st in 100m and 200m

Dylan B. – 1st in 100m and 200m

Rawle A. – 3rd in long jump and 1500m

Amanda D. – 1st Discus and 2nd shot putt

Kye B. – 3rd in 1500m

Year 10 boys relay – 3rd (Landino S, Dylan B, Rawle A)

2nd overall in Mixed competition

The results from these championships have been used to select a team to represent Merton in the Surrey Schools Track and Field Championships on Saturday 11th June at Kingsmeadow Stadium. We wish all of the athletes who qualified the very best of luck!
