Student Voice

Students are given the opportunity to comment on the curriculum through Student Voice interviews held at the end of each term. These are themed around different strands such as Literacy, Numeracy, Teaching and Learning and Enterprise and are led by the respective Strand Leaders. Students are invited to comment on specific activities such as Literacy and Numeracy weeks to inform planning for future events. They also give their views on focused aspects of their lessons, for example, how is numeracy being addressed in subjects other than maths?

Here is some of the feedback we have received from our students:

“In the Enterprise Activities, we learnt about planning and making sure we had enough money for the future. I didn’t realise how much you pay in tax ... The share trading game last year was good fun and interactive.”

“During Numeracy Week you had to collect Numeracy slips in lessons and if you got loads of them you could win a prize ... Teachers also wore a number and we had to collect them all – that was great fun and everyone was doing it. You also had to remember a really long decimal number, pi. Kamile won! She remembered 140 of them!”

“Next year we should have a literacy hunt like an Easter egg hunt – make the longest sentence by gathering stuff, or a giant fridge magnet poetry game. It would be good to have an inter-Faculty book competition – who reads most words in a week.”
