Harris Academies
All Academies in our Federation aim to transform the lives of the students they serve by bringing about rapid improvement in examination results, personal development and aspiration.

At Harris Academy Morden we have introduced chess into our Year 7 Form Tutor programme. Students are taught how to play chess three times per week and gain experience through playing against their peers.

Supported by a growing number of research reports, we believe chess enhances a broad set of skills for students including;

  • improving concentration
  • developing logical reasoning
  • enhancing mathematical and reading skills
  • employ creative thinking
