Year 10 return to school (from 15th June 2020)

Dear Parents / Carers and Students

As we move closer to welcoming Year 10 back into the Academy on the 15th June, we wish to share with you our detailed plans.

The Senior staff supported by the Harris Federation have worked to follow all national guidance as well as added additional measures to fit our circumstances and building.

The plans explain how students will enter the building, the extensive focus on sanitising hands and the measures we have implemented to ensure social distancing of 2 metres at all possible times.

We have included pictures to help everyone understand the expectations and equally to prepare students so they are not shocked when they arrive at the front gates and must follow new procedures before they can enter the site.

Students need to read the reopening plan, so they understand the expectations and the new routines.

All member of our community has their part to plan in keeping the Academy as safe as possible for everyone. Students returning to the Academy will be required to follow all our normal rules but equally they must follow all of the national and Academy COVID 19 rules of social distancing. I must make it very clear to all parents, carers and students that anybody not cooperating will be sent home immediately to ensure everyone else's safety. We do not wish to do this; therefore Year 10 students must ensure they work with the staff members and make their return to the Academy as successful as possible.

In addition to the new rules and routines, we have decided that students will NOT be required to wear uniform between June 15th and the end of the programme. This is because we understand some aspects of the uniform may be too small if the student has grown and it would be unreasonable of us to ask parents and carers to replace this for just one week of lessons. Equally, it is essential that parents / carers wash students clothing daily and send students into the Academy in clean fresh clothing each day. Not having to wear uniform will help parents / carers to adhere to this requirement.

Please ensure you read the letter Mr Whelan posted to you last week informing you of your Group and the dates your group should return for their lessons.
